A South African Superstar Says Farewell

“THE JOURNALIST “… REVEALING AND INTERESTING "INTERVIEWS"

Well before Paul Simon’s “Graceland” came along, a white musician from South Africa named Johnny Clegg was already breaking apartheid laws and celebrating Zulu culture. He co-founded two important, interracial bands, and became an essential voice in his country. But two years ago, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and he’s on a farewell U.S. tour that he’s calling “The Final Journey.”

Author Nicholas Andriani

“I’m now making myself as scummy as I can. Why? I want to be a poet, and I’m working at turning myself into a seer. You won’t understand any of this, and I’m almost incapable of explaining it to you. The idea is to reach the unknown by the derangement of all the senses. It involves enormous suffering, but one must be strong and be a born poet. It’s really not my fault.”

—Rimbaud

Sell Out

The Budding Ken

Contemplating the clearance rack
that has a knack for directing
the scums my way
Weighing whether or not
to put myself on display
and risk that ashtray
conduct just to cop a cum

because all anyone wants
is to just cop a cum
tallying followers
with synthetic souls,
with those biweekly peaks
that skim Romes,
with the milligrams
to peek briefly

why own when you can rent?
why buy when you can pay by the mile?
so why shouldn’t I
feed in this frenzy
when my work is just as sleazy
as his words?

Writing and Formula1 (Racing + Writing in the Zone)

“Having pursued the goals, the dreams set before us and run the race with persistence and endurance, after giving it all. Then one day standing on the summit of life, breathing in the pure sweet oxygen of achievement, totally satisfied in running the greatest race, the race of life one that ANYONE can run and win.”
